A $8,000 Train is Making Waves in Vietnam
The luxury trans-Vietnamese train Sjourney has been making waves since its launch. With a fare of USD 8,610 per ticket (applicable in 2025), this slow travel experience has attracted foreign travelers seeking comfort and exclusivity. Launched on December 18, the Sjourney is a collaboration between PYS Travel Company, Vietnam Railway Corporation, Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and Gia Lam Train Joint Stock Company.
This 8-day, 7-night journey connects the two major cities of Vietnam, with stops in iconic destinations: Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Hue, Quang Binh and Ninh Binh. Every Wednesday, the train departs from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to offer a slow and luxurious immersion in the landscapes and cultures of Vietnam.
Inspired by the Indochinese style of the 1930s, the Sjourney embodies luxury with its elegant neutral tones and modern amenities: 13 carriages, including 10 sleeping cars, with only 3 VIP cabins per carriage. Each cabin, approximately 10 m², has a private bathroom and butler service.
The Bistro Car, a space combining bar, lounge and restaurant, can accommodate up to 60 guests continuously, open 24/7. A maximum capacity of 60 passengers per trip ensures privacy and comfort.
For this exclusive experience, fares are USD 7,320/person in December 2024 (adult, 12 years and older), and USD 8,610/person from 2025. Tickets include access to all the amenities and activities on the train. Tourists can choose between a single or double cabin, depending on their needs. With only 60 seats available per trip, places fill up very quickly.
