Surfing the waves in a sunny sea like Nha Trang or Vung Tau will be one of the exciting activities to experience at the beginning of the year.
Vietnam has numerous beaches of all shapes and sizes stretching across 3,000km of coastline. Besides the mild tropical climate, numerous seas attract large numbers of visitors all year round. Besides the beauty of the landscapes, the towering waves are a challenge that attracts surfers to these places.
1. Da Nang
Da Nang is a popular surfing hotspot with warm weather. Many daring surfers flock to the town from September to March when the water temperature stays below 30 degrees Celsius.
My Khe Beach has a sandy shoreline that stretches for 30 km, which is a favorite spot for many foreign and local tourists. This spot is renowned for its surfing conditions suitable for beginners.
Two other surf spots popular with thrill-seekers are Nam O Beach and Non Nuoc Beach. Both are home to beautiful waves, stimulating the feeling of conquest for veteran surfers.
2. Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province)
Nha Trang is famous as a tourist destination with luxurious resorts, high-rise beach hotels and a variety of seafood. Many tourists give this city the title of “diving capital of the country”.
Besides dozens of available diving spots, Nha Trang also has attractive surfing spots. The strong winds that come from November to March bring plenty of gusts perfect for surfing. In Nha Trang, Bai Dai is a place where visitors can practice this sport freely.
3. Mui Ne (Binh Thuan province)
Mui Ne not only has white sand dunes, but also many attractive things waiting for visitors to explore. If you are a kite surfer, you have come to the right place. Mui Ne is one of the best kitesurfing locations in Southeast Asia, with constant wind on the beaches.
Surfing here is popular from October to May. The sandy strip along the extensive Hon Rom Beach is where it is not difficult to find your own surf spot. On the other hand, from July to October, Suoi O beach becomes the favorite surfing spot for many tourists.
4. Vung Tau (Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province)
Just 90 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau is a familiar weekend getaway for Saigon locals. This coastal town is also a surf spot for visitors to discover.
Many experienced surfers consider Back Beach to be one of the best surf spots in the country. Back Beach is approximately 3 km long with waves breaking on the shore every day.
5. La Gi (Binh Thuan province)
This coastal city is also famous for its resorts, Ta Cu Mountain, Ke Ga Cape and beautiful beaches… The comfortable and cool atmosphere here provides an invigorating vacation for tourists.
The La Gi coastline is windy from November to April. The northeast monsoon brings waves that are not too big, but enough for visitors to have many enjoyable surfing experiences.
