6. Step-by-step guide to obtaining an e-visa for Vietnam
It is quite easy to obtain a Vietnam e-visa through an electronic system as long as you are eligible to obtain a Vietnam e-visa based on the conditions mentioned.
Step 1: Open the official Vietnam visa application website.

This is for foreigners outside Vietnam who personally apply for an e-visa. The page appears with 3 steps for your Vietnam e-visa application. Simply confirm at the bottom and click Next.
Note: Many agents offer e-visa services, but you must do it yourself to ensure your personal information and avoid additional service fees.
Step 2: Fill in the required information
– Upload your portrait photo and the full image of your passport data page that you have already prepared. Make sure all photos are clear enough to see.
– Provide personal information as instructed:
+ Basic information : Full name, date of birth, current nationality, nationality at birth, gender;
+ Other info : Religion, occupation, permanent residential address, telephone number, email address;
+ Passport Info : Passport number, passport type, expiry date*;
+ Travel information : Expected date of entry into Vietnam, number of days you plan to stay in Vietnam (up to 30), purpose of entry, intended temporary residence address in Vietnam, e-visa validity dates* (default , 30 days from your entry date), entry and exit checkpoints.
– Check the box “I assure that I have faithfully declared all relevant details” and enter the Captcha.
– Finally, click on the “Review your application” button to double-check all the details. If you need to make changes, click “Back”.
Note: At this point, a registration code is created and it remains unchanged when you go back and edit your request. The registration code must be registered in order to verify and print the e-visa.
Step 3: Submit and Make Payment
– A summary of your order will appear then click on “I accept” and “Pay electronic visa fees” to continue payment.
– Choose one of the 4 payment methods listed on the Payment Gate page. You can use credit cards or debit cards.
– Provide the required information and click “Pay” to complete the procedure.
– The current e-visa fee is $25 per person and there will be another $1 for processing fees. Please note that the fee will not be refunded if the applicant is refused an e-visa.
Step 4: Confirmation of successful e-visa application
If the payment is successful, you will be redirected to a confirmation page. You will need to wait 3 full business days for your visa to be released. It sometimes takes longer due to large number of applicants or public holidays.
Step 5: Track your Vietnam e-visa status: Check the result
You can check your E-visa result in the E-visa search menu . You must provide the required information including your registration code, registered email address and date of birth.
Note: No emails will be sent regarding the e-visa result.
Step 6: Print your Vietnam e-visa
After being approved for the e-visa, the application status is “Visa Granted” with a link to download. You need to print 2 copies of the Vietnam e-visa for security reasons when traveling.
